CRIME IN STEREO SHOWS IN 2009…

Torche has announced details regarding their upcoming 12″/DVD for Hydra Head Records. Available in stores on March 10th, the release features two tracks from Meanderthal (”Healer” and “Across the Shields”), two new songs (”Mash it Up” and “Sugar Glider”), and a DVD of music videos for “Healer” and “Across the Shields.” The 12″ album cover is from behind-the-scenes footage of the video shoot for “Across The Shields.”

Hey I play in a band from Ontario, Canada called Eating Glass, we put out a 7″ last October with High Anxiety/No Idea Records. We’ve got some cool stuff going on and some cooler stuff planned.Check us out if you haven’t heard us, for fans of Left For Dead, Wolfbrigade, Cut the Shit and Integrity.

To almost everyone, the Samhain reference in the band name should serve to give you a hint of where these guys are coming from. To elaborate, let me throw out some more names for you – Only Living Witness, Undertow, with bits of old Metallica and contemporaries Iron Age. In short, what Mother Of Mercy brings to the table is punishing mid-tempo hardcore that’s not short on monstrous riffs, demonic yowls, and parts designed to motivate every different variety of coreman to hurt the person standing next to them. After just a year and a half of existence they’ve released two well-received EPs on Collapse records, and in addition to their hometown dominance they’ve made it out to California for Sound and Fury ‘08 and just wrapped up a winter tour with the Mongoloids. Now with the release of their debut LP, Mother Of Mercy takes the time to flesh out their sound, as well as kick it up to the next level. With gatefold cover art and layout by E. of Swedish Black Metal gods Watain to round out the package theres no way you can pass this record up.

Washington, D.C.’s DARKEST HOUR will return to the studio next week to resume recording its next album. A new video message from the band can be viewed above.

DARKEST HOUR’s new CD is being tracked at Baltimore, Maryland’s Salad Days Studio with producer Brian McTernan. A spring release via Victory Records is expected.

Things have come full circle for the band, which recorded its 2000 seminal debut “Mark Of The Judas” with McTernan.

Regarding the band’s collaboration with producer Brian McTernan, guitarist Mike Schleibaum previously said, “We are excited to work with Brian again. He has been a longtime friend and supporter of the band ever since its very first shows in 1995. When we recorded ‘Mark of the Judas’ with him in 2000, it helped solidify our sound and define us as a band. Eight years later, it’s time to do it again. With all the scars of our past to guide us, we look towards a new future.”

DARKEST HOUR last year parted ways with guitarist Kris Norris and replaced him with Houston’s Mike “Lonestar” Carrigan, who filled in for Kris during the Thrash and Burn tour.

DARKEST HOUR’s latest album, “Deliver Us”, was released in July 2007 via Victory Records. The follow-up to 2005’s “Undoing Ruin” was recorded at the Warehouse in Vancouver, Canada.

JANE’S ADDICTION – BOX SET – OUT SOON.

According to Pitchfork, a limited-edition box set of JANE’S ADDICTION rarities, “A Cabinet of Curiosities”, will be released on April 21 via Rhino. The set will include three CDs and one DVD in a wooden case.

The first disc will contain all unreleased demos from 1986 and 1987. The second will include more demos, but also unreleased live tracks and beloved rarities covers of the GRATEFUL DEAD, THE STOOGES, and LED ZEPPELIN, as well as a version of SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE’s “Don’t Call Me N.gger, Whitey” that they did with Ice-T.

The DVD will include “Soul Kiss”, the JANE’S documentary previously unavailable on DVD. It’ll also feature the “Mountain Song” video that MTV banned and various music videos and home movies.

On April 18, Rhino will make available 180-gram vinyl reissues of the 1988 JANE’S ADDICTION album “Nothing’s Shocking” and 1990’s “Ritual De Lo Habitual”.

EW has a status update from the Beastie Boys on their new album.
The album is their eighth and the magazine spoke to Adam “MCA” Yauch:

It’s a pretty weird record. [The album will feature] a lot of rhyming and playing and sampling—all combined.
We still have a good time working together. It’s fun to be able to reinvent yourself every time.
The record is headed for a Summer or Fall 2009 release.
The group recently released a remastered and expanded version of their 1989 classic, Paul’s Boutique.

DRAGONFORCE – ANNOUNCES SPRING TOUR.

British extreme epic power metallers DRAGONFORCE will be back on U.S. shores this spring to support last year’s “Ultra Beatdown”. The band will embark on a month-long, headlining tour and hit a batch of markets they did not play on their successful tour last November.

The tour was designed specifically as a way to reward DRAGONFORCE’s throng of fans for their continued support of the band with a low priced ticket. In some cases, advance tickets are as low as $15, which takes these trying economic times into account. There’s no better way to spend a hard-earned $15 then by taking in a night of swilling beer and watching the band shred their way through an entire set! Reactivated Christian hard rockers STRYPER will release their new album, “Murder By Pride”, in late July via Big 3 Records.

STRYPER recently revealed the winner in the “Murder By Pride” artwork contest — Gilvan Rangel of Campina Grande, Brazil. The winning artwork, which will be used for the group’s new CD, can be viewed below. The band says, “Hundreds of submissions were received and carefully reviewed. We were amazed and thrilled by all the accomplished artists in the STRYPER network of fans. Many of you are extremely talented and we extend our sincere gratitude to everyone that took time to submit art.”

METALLICA – BREAK ANOTHER RECORD IN U.K.

ThisIsNottingham.co.uk reports that METALLICA’s sell-out show at the Trent FM Arena Wednesday night (February 25) was the venue’s biggest ever crowd.

The band broke the attendance record with its in-the-round show, playing a two-hour set in front of 10, 337 fans.

The previous record was 10,015 held by the KINGS OF LEON at a show in December last year.

“We are always striving to provide increased capacities for promoters and this record breaking attendance highlights our success in being able to attract the highest calibre of artists to our venue,” said chief executive Geoff Huckstep.
